EMPOWERING SCHOOLS TO MEET TODAY'S EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGES

In a time when educational institutions are under increasing pressure to provide both academic excellence and relevant, career-ready skills, schools are seeking innovative solutions. Balancing a rigorous curriculum with the need for practical, industry-aligned experiences can be challenging. Additionally, schools must navigate complex regulations, overcome misconceptions around career-related learning, and ensure strong student outcomes.

Imagine offering a programme that not only addresses these challenges but also enhances your school's reputation.

IB and TAFE Queensland Build New Partnership

The International Baccalaureate (IB) has partnered with TAFE Queensland and Brisbane South State Secondary College to introduce the Career-related Programme (CP). This collaboration combines IB’s academic rigor with TAFE Queensland’s practical training, equipping students with essential workplace skills and real-world career exposure. The partnership aims to prepare students for both higher education and career paths, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and global citizenship. Through this initiative, students will graduate with a strong foundation for future success, contributing to a skilled and future-ready workforce in the region.

Key benefits that the partnership can bring to IB students:

HIGHLIGHTING CP STUDENT RESEARCH

A study in the UK indicated that CP students were progressing and performing well at university with 89% continuing on to their second year of study and 70% achieving a first- or upper second-class honours degree (a higher percentage than Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) students—66%).

Data from CP alumni in Kent, UK indicated that
55% of former CP students were enrolled in university, 17% were employed, 16% were engaged in apprenticeships and fewer than 1% were unemployed.
Students also believed the CP had helped to develop key skills for education, work and life, with 87% agreeing that the CP had developed their academic skills, 82% reporting that the CP had developed their work-based skills and 70% agreeing that the CP had developed their personal skills.
